Hilltown Sleddogs in Western Massachusetts is looking for an Intern/Apprentice to learn all things about Sled Dog Handing and Mushing. We’re home to 11 Alaskan Husky Sled Dogs. We’ve raced and trained all over North America from Expeditions in Alaska to World Championships in Canada and overseas in Sweden as Dryland Rig Racing champions. With 15 years in the Racing and Touring Business and empowering youth in summer Sled Dog Camps, Marla is looking to teach someone all she’s learned!

Including how to: Raise and care for a pack of workings dogs compassionately and safely Service clients and campers of all ages Train on a 4-wheeler all fall with the full team in scenic New England

30 per hours per week; live-in Must be physically fit for hiking, lifting, and handling of dogs and equipment. A private, dry handler cabin with wood stove and Wifi is available above the dog-yard.

Timeframe: Training to ideally begin on or around August 15. Move in by September 1, stay through November 30, option to continue in December.

Stipend negotiable upon experience. A monthly stipend is provided as well as a reference and recommendation upon completion for employment in Alaska or elsewhere as a musher!
